Table for One Tuesday!

In my longing for personal time and good restaurant food, I specially invented Table for One Tuesdays which officially started yesterday! Ha! Made it sound like I've been doing this forever when it's been done a grand total of one time. Uno! So, for the premiere of Tf1T, I went to Sagar, a South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant on Percy Street. I ordered a Rava Dosa, which is made of cream of rice and wheat or something like that and it came served with Daal (or Sambar) and some green coconut thing which I didn't really like. It was deep fried I think, and was relatively oily but not as bad as roti prata or churros, but sufficiently okay to not leave streaks of oil on the plate after I was done, and was crispy!! I like crispy! It would also soften when I dipped it into the curry and that was marvellous. The waiter also saw that I thoroughly enjoyed wolfing down the curry and took great initiative by offering me another small saucer of the curry. Kudos to the waiter! Thanks to him, I'll definitely make another visit to Sagar to try to Uttapams, which sounded really good on the menu. Maybe I'll get some Poori too. Oh for the love of Indian food.
I also decided to indulge in a Mango Lassi. After the previous Indian Karahi feast at Wanting's when Sam's mango lassi failed to turn up, my interest in the drink was stoked and I had to try it. Also because the other drinks available on the menu sounded a little dodgy for my liking and I wasn't sure if I was ready to be so experimental and brave with my drink choices! The mango lassi turned out to be a fantastic decision! The mango that went in there was definitely fresh as I could taste the richness and sweetness of the mango (although I think the best mango I've ever tasted was in Thailand - cheap and good and sweet sweet mango sticky rice) even though it was blended with yogurt, but the combination was really to my liking and I thoroughly enjoyed my mango lassi! So there I was, on a regular Tuesday evening, sipping my Mango Lassi and reading about different leadership types on my dearest iPad mini.
*on a side note, I am rather fascinated by the British use of the word evening. Even if its 930pm and very much night time, the lovely Sky from fitness first will still say, "Bye Violet! Have a great EVENING!" Evening?!?! I really don't understand! Maybe now that the sun sets sometime after 830, the use of the word evening can be extended but often I get so boggled by the diction that I become socially-awkward and just go Hehe *smiles widely* or say thank you! Only once or twice did I actually remember to return the greeting and wish her a great....evening. Mind-boggling the English are!
Back to The Food Issue, I've also recently discovered the ideal location my gym is at, offering my quick and convenient access to tons of cute cafes, niche restaurants and unique cuisines! Maybe I'll extend Tf1 to Thursdays as well. I really want to have some Pho at the Pho restaurant located next to Bagel factory, which I tried today! Brought me back to Amsterdam where I visited my first cafe dedicated to Bagels (Note: fond memories of bagels in amsterdam NOT because bagels were a Dutch invention, though I don't actually know the Bagel's true heritage). Bagel Factory is a lot cheaper than Bagels and Beans in Amsterdam, but to be fair, the bagel I had today was only filled with hommous (second mind-boggler!) and a "Salad", which is actually lettuce, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers. I describe it like I didn't enjoy it, but truthfully, I was wolfing it down and enjoyed every last bite of my whole wheat bagel, the hommous and the salad. Yum yum yum! Toasted bagels are indeed tasty tasty!
So, hommous. Today, at the counter, I ordered hommous but pronounced it as HUM-MUS and the lady ( not British, sounded a little like she doesn't really speak English so could be Italian/Spanish or Eastern European - sigh, still haven't picked up on accents of non indigenous speakers of English) was like what? So I repeated HUM-MUS with a smile, and I think the smile got to her cause she was all Eureka and said OH! HOO-MUS!
HOO-Mus or HUM-MUS?!?! Walao eh everyday my language capabilities are being challenged. I would like to think it was pronounced with the HOO sound because it was spelled with the HOO sound, so next time I'm ordering hummus/hommous, the pronunciation will depend on how it's spelt. And I will have to find a way to make the guy repeat it to confirm my theory. Something tells me this is going to happen quite soon because the restaurants I've got my eyes on next are Lebanese (adventurous!!! But the name is damn safe sounding: Honey and Co), Turkish (özer, which I thought was German -.- ) and Mildred's (cuisine type I am not too aware but what I'm aware of is that the menu looks absolutely delightful. More tasty tasty!!!)
Diet-wise... I guess it's still keeping up. I've decided to limit myself to 1.5 meals with carbs a day, 1 meal no carbs (typically dinner, since I don't need carbs at night) and 1 afternoon snack. 1.5 meals instead of 1 because oats count as carbs but they aren't my typical rice, wheat, noodles, flour, starch WHICH I LOVE AND WOULD BE VERY SAD TO GIVE UP FOR OATS. oats seriously. I'm eating a 1kg box of oats. Last I weighed the box, it has 748g left which means n more meals of oats la! Sian. Oats for breakfast aren't that bad and quite tasty but like sometimes I just want to indulge in rice and noodles and pasta (!!!!) so I self-discretion and changed it to 1.5 to be more encouraging and also realistic. Must set SMART goals ma, I'm a management student too okay!
Check out Violet's SMART goals:
Specific - be significantly skinnier. Lose 1kg a week (I.e. caloric deficit of 3500 a week, 500 a day, approximately) but actually, for me, weight is just a guideline, more importantly I want to Downsize!!!!!!
Measurable - I have 1 skirt, 1 pair of pants and 1 pair of jeans to test. Plus my measurements and my weight!
Achievable - this is damn sian but I hope with my new ultra discipline plus super feasible plan, it will be more achievable than before when I was confused about the process and anyhow whack. Got the method clear this time plus consulted my medic friends hahaha super useful to have two medic friends <3
Relevant/Realistic - I think relevant is more appropriate because realistic is similar to achievable right? But Janice morphet (#janicemorphet) put in her PowerPoint that its realistic. But different sources say different things. And #janicemorphet has really messed up PowerPoint slides with information that aren't that helpful and MANY MANY TYPOS or awkward phrasing of points which sometimes make zero sense. Tough life of an urban planner leh.
Timely: SUPER TIMELY LA MY GOAL!!! Headed to Alicante in less than 3 weeks and thereafter parents are flying up which means eatlikeapig holiday so the time to lose is NOW. Plus I really wanna be skinny for summer! Want to go back to Singapore and LOOK like I've actually shrunk!!
Summary of my life. I love food and I love eating but I also want to be skinny so... I will work hard and eat appropriately!!! See, I'm having totally positive attitudes now because I never blame the heavens or god or my parents HAHAHAHAHA
Back to more SMART goals!!

not saying that graduation and everything else chinese isnt important, butdid i mention how much i hate it when people dont reply?!!!
grawr.
i need to eat less tofu and mushrooms. i kinda eat it everyday now i am getting disturbed by my own appetite.
things i like to eat so i will remember and eat it on rotation:
I like the Peach drinks stuff from Pink Yogurt at Bugis, it's like only $2.50 now usually it's $3.80 so i made an imaginary profit of $1.30. yay that's the first dollar i ever earned :D
I also like the korean Rice Cake but lately it has been not very delicious looking, it's like paste-y and stuff which is Not What It Is Supposed To Be. so i am very disappointed in you Korean Store, you ought to be embarrassed by your bad behaviour.
I also like Yella Fellas with Nacho Cheese, it is next to the store which sells dough but uh, forget about that. Don't buy $3.40 because you will eat until you are very full and it will start to be a little not nice. So buy the small $3 one because it is less and the container is cooler looking too.
I also like QQ Rice, but you can find that at plazasing and square2 as well. it is very yummyyyy! i know it looks not-too-appetising, but it is very good, the drinks and the pudding too! :D yay and they have PURPLE rice so yummy.
Oh Oh and there's also sweet potato fries at this place which sells the XXXXXXL chicken too but i dont know what it's called. the sweet potato fries are nice.
Saybons has very good soup i think the New Potato and Leek Soup is the best because it is very nice, i like thick soups.
& SLICE! :D :D :D
OKAY TOWN IS AWESOME WITH SUCH AWESOME FOOD CHOICES WHAT WOULD I DO IN FOREIGN LAND NEXT YEAR. oh no my poor stomachhhh O: O: O:
I also like Bread Talk (especially when they play Ye Ye Pao De Cha!)

I am extremely unhappy that so far, I only know a single place in Singapore that sells reliably delicious Korean Spicy Rice Cake (+ Kimchi Dumpling + drink the spicy sauce = yummy). Other places, such as everywhere else, has it in this mass produced pot which people use to cook steamboat/teppanyaki. What kind of mock rice cake is that. Shaaaaaaaaame on you.On other issues, Options has turned me into a mega pig with pregnant women cravings. First i was craving curry udon, saturday i was craving crepes, almost everyday i crave breadtalk, few days ago i was at home craving seaweed, then another week back i was craving yogurt, few weeks before i think i was super on about the korean mixed rice thing. and now, i want to eat Korean Rice Cake everyday. it's not like i just found out about its existence, i have been eating it rather regularly for quite a few months already. Maybe i just got in touch with my inner kim Chi.
the most marvellous thing is that the things i crave are okay priced. like not, expensive food like some Buddha Jump Over the Wall or Humpty Dumpty Sat on the Wall, or any kind of wall for that matter.
and you know what (this reminds me of analysing talk and nicole is a humongous loser who repeats like a loser - the sack is scary, the sack is scary, the sack is really very [drags] scary!), i just realised that the cracked egg on the Newsweek cover is somewhat something like Humpty Dumpty on wall street. how intelligent, yuan2 lai2 (i think the english substitute is not so, ENLIGHTENING with the Ting Ting Ting effect and shiny lights and enlightened look) blogging has its uses as well.
Korean Rice Cakes, yummmmmmyyyy.

i want to eat fried potatoes. they sound so delicious. but if you call them french fries they dont sound as delicious. actually they dont even sound nice. yknow what, they sound cannibalistic.just like how you are what you eat sounds cannibalistic.
but if you are what you eat, then i must be SWEET :D
how awesome. i read this website which is really funny and so now i know i am actually a closet rebel. because everyday i eat in class since I AM WHAT I EAT :D
i realise im very easily amused when i am stressed. <-- hahaha i even found that funny. and <-- i found that funny. and i found <-- that funny. OKAY STOP IT NO YOU STOP IT NO YOU STOP IT NO YOU.
i have no idea what i am doing. i am supposed to begin on my Ultimate Crash Chem Chempaign, and mug chem for 7 hours straight. i got my life all planned out on a little piece of stolen post-it in my best handwriting and then i decided it was very fun to plan out my life like that i embarked on a new project called "To Do List after EOYs". Since i'm trained in the RGS project work course, i went online to do research and all that nonsense and added diagrams and links and even a bibliography so HAH, im still not done.
as mummy once said, "finish today's work today." so i must finish this project TODAY.
goodbye Ultimate Crash Chem Chempaign. i will miss you. remember, when the going gets tough, just forget it and eat yogurt.
*YOGURT* one day i will dedicate an entire post to this awesome thing though i dont really know what it contains it's just awesome and for all i know i may be eating like plastics (POLYMERS AND CARBON AND HYDROGEN) but eventually, even food is made of carbon and hydrogens so we might as well stop eating food and eat plastics. then we can solve the problem of plastics being non-biodegradable.
how about that, chemists?
go embark on a project called "STOP GLOBAL WARMING. EAT PLASTICS."
(i cannot believe this started with wanting to eat fried potatoes O: )

He's a wily old fox. This is what the Wily Old Fox is saying to his Poor Miserable Son: "My signature on the invoices is what is doing me in. If someone comes forward to say he forged my signature, then I'll be off the hook. You're my son. I raised you. You should do something for me in return."
What an evil father omg omg omgggg. This actor is kind of typecast he's always acting as a horrible daddy with no morals, maybe cause he looks like a horrible daddy with no morals. But Au Revoir, Shanghai is great. i love HK dramas they are so intense and so full of win :D :D :D Watching HK dramas hours after hours is almost as great as eating Mr Bean 3-in-1 rice balls.
Mr Bean 3-in-1 riceballs and Mr Bean Soy Bean Icecream. I love Mr Bean (it's not the guy who goes "dooo" with teddy, but http://www.mrbean.com.sg/ )
"Have you ever felt the beauty of a smile, the warmth of a touch or the bliss of simply watching the world go by... Share a little time and imagination with us. Let's indulge in Life's Simple Pleasures."
Haha the Mr Bean thing sounds so much like song lyrics i can actually see it being mrbean.mp3 in my eyes, hear the music in my ears and anything and everything. yayyzosaurus rex :D
The MrBean icon is so qt too i love MrBean <3
Anyway, though morning and math and APCG meeting was kinda sucky, I had a great afternoon and evening. I! COULDNT! FINISH! MATH!!!! So I cried. I dont deny that's kinda gross and I was really embarrassed to be bawling like an insane cereal bar after a math test, like when Funelas was collecting the paper I was already banging my forehead on the table and wanting to poke myself with a pen. Haha but this taught me that I can cry better than some actresses who can't so yay me! Then later, thong and i realised we couldnt be part of APCG anymore so yeah, it was a really bad morning.
Love Love Love to yOMazings for making ichiban boshi sushi and so much more, and i havent been to J8 since WW2 so it was kinda brrright to see the orange food court which is damn pretty we are all so hot like tangerine worhXXYY chromosomes. Didnt do much talked nonsense and stuff but the entire process was too dumb to be glum plums so i was a happy yummy kid with roses tulips and violets in my head. and im really glad to have awesome friends who are there for me through shrubbery and blueberry and cranberry.
I'M JUST A PAWN IN THE GAME. I AM EXPENDABLE. Things are going to get real nasty in here. - Au Revoir, Shanghai has really amusing quotable quotes!!
WHEN I GO TO JC I WILL SHOOT UP BY 30CM AND LOOK DOWN AT NICOLE. HAHA TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTIPOTENT CELLS.
HAHA OKAY WILY OLD FOX IS LIKE IMPOTENT I THINK THATS DAMN FUNNY.

Sometimes I can get so unenergetic I get really annoyed at myself. Elaborations unneccessary but in general, nobody should try the Crusty Pot Pie at TheSoupSpoon if they are messy eaters, and Bread Talk has stupidly gotten rid of their most delicious bread (some overpriced hotdog danish thing it was pure bakery genius) I dont want pork floss anymore. Aside, (creditstoMarissathe410pageantnominee) time flies like an arrow and fruit flies like a banana, it's annoying how time makes so much difference in everything. 2 logs in the water = a pair of swimming trunks, which drift apart eventually. Just as how I can never recover my waterbottle after I lost it, some things just suck and must disappear with time so -
It's been an long day with Probability and not understanding that, Identity and mind-(boggling) maps, TingXie with discussions, GRA with very GRAH emotions (oh the moon on her head) and Bio without much brains. Oh i forgot, listing is the worst way of constructing a sentence, "NO MORE THAN 2 COMMAS IN A SENTENCE." says mslim. her sense of humor is amazing i wish that when i get old i wont turn into an ugly-old-hag who listens to feiyuching but be young at heart just like her.
Auditions ytd were fun, and personally the best quotable quote of that day had to be this:
(Someone suggests that the oysters dont look very fresh)
VERY FUNNY SECONE, "Aiyah nevermind just eat lah"
and then when jasmine was saying smth really grand like "i am the great JASMINE LIU" she totally dead-panned and said, "never heard of you".
you've got to laugh to stomachaches when you hear that cause she said it with a face that you would give to someone who's as un-funny as mrsj(i must break up her name so in case they google her, she cant find my blog haha)ulieq(:D)uah.
oh, APPLY FOR CONGRESS'08. Applications Forms can be found in the classtrays as well as the area above classtrays. Submit to Zan (409) by 28Jan.
Contrary to popular (idontknowwhy) belief, congress is very fun, and we are going to be highly efficient and productive. so exfoliate the layers and layers of dirt shrouding an especially amazing congress :D i'm speaking the truth, you can trust me.

"I'm...I'm...lost. I'm lost." - says my waterbottle who has left me for good. Yeah, it's pre-mature departure upsets me very much, and I have yet to completely get over the loss. Sometimes, I dream of it when I am sleeping and see it floating around my head saying, "Violet lee, you lost me. You lost me!!" (okay no, i dont actually have such strange dreams - eh, hold that thought - but that would actually be rather disturbing. Nightmare-ish probably)Anyway, all my unhappy feelings have vanished along with the NEW NIKE WATERBOTTLE, proudly sponsored by an extremely generous lingmin<3! (haha though i did manage to convince Shaowei, Elainelau & Joellyn to get one for me prior to today) It mayn't be exactly the same as Mr Pink but this one is extremely pretty and I like it very much. -hugs waterbottle protectively and wont leave it anywhere- I shall post waterbottle photo soon. lovely :D i think i will give it a name and a nickname and a surname and like totally make sure it stays with me for as long as i can possibly imagine. I LOVE WATERBOTTLE NO MORE DEHYDRATION.
Last night, Laura and I spent the night at rachelmiao's house where we had A LOT OF FUN. Of the many hilarious moments we shared, we watched lauragan play neopets (HALF PRICED DAY), took photos (and failedbad) using photobooth, took videos mocking jeanhui's impersonation of weishan, made a video for jeanhui and talked alot alot alot about om and psb. oh, both om and psb turned out amazing today, save for an extremely annoying, want-to-slap-your-face moment in the hall. That wasn't a problem for very long, as reshmi and i started talking nonsense and then we cheered OH YEAH like idiots. HAHA WE CHEERED LIKE THIS: "OH...OH...OH. YEAH...YEAH...YEAH" SUPER LOUDLY AND AUDIBLY AND LIKE USED DEEP VOICES AHAHA.
Oh and yitong and i were really enthu this morning in the netball courts we were running around and saying things like, "WE MUST BE THE CENTRE OF ATTENTION/ATTRACTION." or "WE ARE THE MOST ENTHU OF ALL. GO AWAY WE ARE THE MOST ENTHU." or "LETS ME UN-HIGH FOR 1HR TODAY. eh no, 45MINS, aiyah 30 mins. OKAY FORGET IT." haha i remember us dancing around the few classes at the back skipping back and forth while cheering, go raffles go raffles go (turns around) bring them down bring them down.
AHAHAHAHA ORIENTATION HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I LOVE PSB MUCH!
haha and OM today was great. Hope everything else turns out fine and we will win and be awesome and throw broccoli on each others' heads and faces and eat mushrooms :D
Oh and rachelmiao has gotten me addicted on cranberries i shall start on my new pack veryverysoon.

Okay first i must insist that the Grinch is a fricking animal. Yes it may be green like a vegetable and a little strange, but i dont care, it's an animal all right. :DSo Christmas! What's up? ( i say in a Mocking Sharan Manner)? I dont really know. Maybe cause 1) I'm not Christian and 2) My family is small and 3) My mum is overseas.
Yeah so Christmas this year was rather uneventful compared to the one i celebrated in Vietnam last year. Went to Jacky's house to watch dramas and admire her very big and beautiful house, invade her iTunes and uh, be afraid of her mother :D Heh nothing much lah but it was fun and all so thank you jacky!! :D
Heh after which papa picked me up and we went to swensens to eat. Rawr wanted to go to the Plaza Sing one but road was closed and all and there were so many people at that place to watch a ridiculous "Grand Christmas Concert". So we went to the one at United Sq instead (aft seeking help from jacky to check the swensens outlets) Dinner was delicious although I had a slipper fight with Papa under the table, and lost 7-4 to my papa in the retarded jikopah (however you spell it). Ahma decided to be a rebel and ate alone at home so we had some good bonding time together with alot of retarded humour. :D
I think I need to go and watch fei tian xi shi (aka To Grow With Love) now even though i've already missed a good 2/3 of it. Merry Christmas! :D

im going to name all my entries after animals and it will include animals i invent on my own. something like creating my own zoo omg then i can compile into a book called Violet's Zoo and draw little pictures and make them do stupid stuffs like jump into the air and eat a lollipop while singing the Kushin-Bo song. wheeeeee :D
Oh and mummy has something against spending christmas in Singapore cause she is going to elope with herself to bangkok (i think) for christmas on christmasday itself. I tried to throw a lousy tantrum about not spending time with family and always going away during christmas HAHA and she realised i was doing that on purpose and agreed to give me a delicious christmas eve treat. yay - success! :D
